Nothing in that book should be taken literally, it's a very nice message and some very good stories, and the legitimacy of some is good. But over two thousands years it has been changed by people, lost translations, propaganda, never true in the first place and been taken too literally. It has to be questioned when you read it, if you explore the world outside the bible you see that a lot of it is very wrong.

I'm sorry if this sound offensive, I meant it in the nicest way.

funny you mention translations and manuscripts and such, did you know there are thousands of manuscripts of the Bible and they line up very well together.

But then people who discredit the bible due to this, have no problem with Homer's Illiad and Odessy which only have a handful of manuscripts remaining.

There is nothing wrong in the Bible at all, name something right now you have an issue with, and I am sure I have heard it before.

That said there are things about God I do not understand. Like, why create people that you know will not accept your salvation knowing they will go to hell. I have no answer for that, but as it says in Job, God is soveriegn. And me being a human cannot funny understand the way a supernatural being works. Much like the greatest scientist in the world still are not sure why gravity exist (yes they have theories, just like I have theories about things i dont understand)

They are not talking literally when saying adam shall die. They are talking about how his sins would commit him to hell.

you obviously dont know how to read King James Version, this is the NIV I believe.

“The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.” (Genesis 2:18-19 NIV)on english correctly so I will give 20th century english translation.

back in the day the word formed would have been read in past tense alone. Now we have become accustomed to adding helping verbs to ephasize the tense. Notice the word HAD. The Bible is being redundent at worst here restating where God had created the Animals from. Good try though,

omg, I did not realize the Athiest were well... lets put it this way, I figured that if someone was willing to bet their eternal state on believing or not believing something they would at least know how to read it.

I have taken Greek, and I can tell you that in the instance of the NT examples you gave the Greek word used for both terms is different and has different meanings.

A good example is the greek words Hrama and Logos, BOTH words are translated "word" in the NT, but having different meaning. Even in English we the would repect in different ways, let alone arcane english.
