Forums - Gaming - Valve laughs off Left 4 Dead PS3

Valve has brushed off new rumours (again) of a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead, sparked by a rather decisive listing on a UK retailer website.

With not just a PS3 version listed, but a release date of June 5, EA down as the label and even the ability to pre-order the game right now, HMV seems pretty sure it's happening. More than an easily-missed typo-o, anyway.

A Valve rep, however, mocked the listing, saying to CVG: "Fantastic. I can't wait to see it."

Looking around, Play.com has a L4D PS3 listing too, but there's no date or pre-order on it.

So it's PC and 360 exclusive still, but PS3 owners can always hope.

Isn't Valve actively disliking programming for the PS3 even?

Hmm, this is actually good news to me, shows that Valve are still PC dev's at heart. And L4D is a PC game anyways, for me, I hate console FPS' in general, some are decent but most are just too slow and boring imo.

Mind you, they're laughing at the false listing rather than the PS3 itself. ^^

This is how it works with Valve. They're a small company that make PC games, and are able to port onto the 360 due to technical similarities and strong sales. Not enough resources to put into the console with the weakest sales, that's also the hardest to work with.

It's no gonna happen. Valve and PS3 don't click nicely.

Yep.

They don't have the capabilities (and cash) like an EA to invest on the PS3... too bad...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
