I recommend everybody read the wall-o-text

Interesting incite into Iwata's mind really..

Wow, a lot of great stuff. I like how the guy asks why the DS sells well in December and Iwata's like... well... Christmas... duhhh

I got a good question: how does someone who was basically a start-up programmer for HAL Labs become so well versed in the nuances of business?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

What does CSR stand for?... he seems to be talking about envionmentally friendly stuff so I understand the paraghraph but I still can't figure out what it actually stands for.

Also no idea what was going on about hedges, I presume something to do with paying in different currency saves them money, or has some other kind of advantage.

No idea about CSR. Read hedging as in "hedging your bets". In this case it's a way to protect against currency fluctuations. By paying for some expenses in US dollars, they decrease the impact of the Yen's strength, but they also don't make as much as they can if the Yen weakens.

It makes sense for an exporter to hedge by paying for some expenses in the currency their revenue is mainly made of.

Maybe CSR stands for Corporate social responsibility.
