Forums - Sony - 1.1m pre-order book for Killzone 2 in europe

Would the 1.1M be what retailers are expected to sell the first week or the first month's supply?

Also, I wonder if this game for how long this game (or any super-promoted, super-anticipated game) will sell after the initial period.

In other words, will the 1.1M could be close to lifetime sales -- or will it be the beginning of a massive wave of sales.

I doubt there is potential for more than 2M sales in Europe at present -- which would represent one out of every four PS3 owner buying the game (based upon current VGC sales estimates of just over 8M consoles sold on the continent).

25% attach rate would actually be normal in this situation.

The only bad thing about this situation is it won't be receiving price drops any time soon :) And I refuse to pay full price for shooters on pad :)

Not bad, wonder if it will do better in Eu or NA.

There's no way KZ2 will have close to 1.1 million sales in the first week, or more specifically in one region. These are probably the amount of copies retailers have bought.

well arent you a troll.

There is always a possibly that a PS3 game let alone a gmae like Killzone 2 to have a 1.1 million first week. There is still a few more weeks left and mattering customer demand these numbers will increase. As they increase the possibility that 1m in a region increases.

I'm not here to shit on anyone's parade, I'm just being realistic. No one in their right mind would predict 1million first week sales in Europe alone. Not even MGS4 got 1million in Europe, I doubt KZ2 will.

Remember that KZ2 has much broader appeal than MGS4 and userbase at the moment is bigger than few months ago.

Imho 700-800k Europe is realistic, and depending on how good demo is 1M might be possible.

The FPS genre does have a broader appeal as long as it is a good FPS.

bbsin - your post seems to have been stating not possible for worldwide first week. I know it is impossible for 1 million in the EU. Still it has been confirmed that the retail pre-orders is 1.1m for Europe/PAL only. I would easily expect worldwide first week of over 1 million copies with about 500k+ in the EU.

Interesting. About three weeks to go and we'll know for sure. I am intrigued as to how this will sell. This 1.1million to retail has got me thinking it's going to be a lot considering that's in Europe and shooters are most popular in America.

Why not? Gears did it. And this is Europe, you know....PS3's highest userbase is there

Gears =/= KZ

Besides, Gears 2 is a game coming of a very successful and highly touted prequel. Gears 2 was also sold during the holidays and had a massive marketing campaign in it's own rights.

Even if Europe is the PS3's best market, there has only been one game (correct me if I'm wrong) that has gotten 1 million day one says in a single region (or even close).

The more you guys think that KZ2 is the next coming of Jesus, the more it's going to suck when it's not, even if it sells very well.

I still don't understand this 1.1 million pre-orders, with only 372k first week ?
