Lies! PS3 doesn't have hardware failure problems. Everyone told me that!

@OP- Sounds like an issue with the bluray drive. Does it only happen with PS3 games or with Blurays/DVDs as well??

well last time it froze it I was playing a PSN game,

this time (first time) it froze when I selected Uncharted, it was still on the XMB..

I don't think that it's the drive if it froze on a PSN game.

If I were you, I would try safe-mode, see if it freezes there, because it might be a firmware issue.

It semms almost all the early 60 gig ps3 has problems mine crashed only a year from launch

Mine hasn't.

Given, I have a 20 GB SKU, but they have the same motherboard as a 60GB.

I've never had any problems aside from the rare in-game XMB freezing the PS3.

That's firmware, though, not hardware.

I'm thinking it's the new hard drive I've installed...

I installed it a couple weeks ago...

it's a 120gig - 5400 / 8m

One thing I noticed:

when I moved all my saves over, I only started after I found the Sub in Uncharted, and I'm way past that part..

Maybe some stuff got mixed up, or it was the PS3 adjusting to the new Hard drive..

Well thats what i'm hoping anyway...

I'd grab a USB stick and try reformatting again.

If that doesn't work, switch back to your old HDD and see if it still freezes.

If it does, it's a firmware problem, which Sony will usually fix for free.

I still have the original HDD, and have some problems.  But you never know, if its not too much trouble, maybe you could try the other HDD again and see if the problems go away.

hmm... send in for fix?

or send me firmware disc for fix?
