Only hack I used was Mousepads Maphack, I didn't use anything to mod the actual gameplay.

Put only enough STR to equip your build with its top gear, nothing into Mana, enough Dex for HOTO and rest into Vitality, max out Hammers and all synergies?

I was a Zealot-Fanaticism man myself.

Etheral Perfect Berserker's Axe with BTOD with 20 Zeal and 20 Fanaticism it got to a point where i would be stuck with enough IAS to reach the Attack per Frame Limit, so even though i would almost go to 400 IAS, it really was just 5 hits per Frame at maximum xD
My damage output wasn't that high, 6K - 9K, but DPS total was up to 30K - 45K

Didn't touch anything but vit :). I got a high anni/torch, it let me equip the hoto and enigma, then i get like 80 str or something from enigma? Didn't touch dex either, or mana.

I had a mage that was hacked so bad that meteor would crash the game on contact because it did so much damage.

I never really used hacked chars unless I was messing around.

To anwser your question, no, I stopped when my 'Zon got nerfed, putting hundreds of hours into a character only to have my whole build end up useless killed the game for me. :(
