Forums - Sony - RE5 demo

i think the control are ok once you get used to them
my pros and cons

pros
-graphics
-co-op

cons
-controls (there ok but should be better)
-targeting an enemy in co-op (this is probably just me but its
very hard to tell if your targeting someone)
-its not a survival horror game
- inventory (RE4's is much better)

i love how people complain about how you cant move and shoot- if you want a game like that, go play a shooter. RE was never meant to be that kind of game.

Yet somehow, the RE series turned into shooters...

Even CoD5's zombie mode does a better job at being a survival horror. And unlike RE5, it manages to put tons of pressure on the player without having to force them into one spot when aiming.

Played it a few hours ago. Co-op of course. Looks and sounds great! The controls are clunky and extremely slow, aiming is a chore, not because it is unprecise, it just takes forever to get your sights to the target.
Doubly so if you have to make long turns or aim up into the air (flying foes).
All in all it seems solid though, I'm getting it for co-op play for sure, always loved Resident Evil!

Look everyone should have known about the controls all along. By making it so you cant shoot and move at the same time, it adds a sense of urgency and tension. It also means you cant do the typical FPS and back up while shooting to clear yourself of danger. While its not survival horror anymore its still a game thats suppposed to be suspenseful and things like that build suspense and tension. If you dont like the controls dont buy it, simple as that, why waste your time bitching about it on forums, what good is that going to do?

The game is horrible just leave it at that, but then again the series was never known for good controls or camera so you might like it if you're a fan of the series.

The co-op was fun , I wouldn't say it was quality enough to warrant a pre-order/early purchase especialy considering the fact that K2 ,Street Fighter and Halo Wars are around the corner.

There are numerous issues involving gameplay, bugs, and AI that weren't present even in its predecessor.

That's the shortest and most complete answer. It's worth buying for $30 or so if you are an RE fan. Don't waste $60 on it.

It is a pretty poor demo, the controls are awful and for no justifiable reason.

He asked for impressions, being unable to try it himself. Why would we not list pro's and con's and mention controls? It was part of the impression and my impression was that the controls were not very good, so I told him. What good is it going to do? That's like saying you shouldn't name negative things in reviews because its no use. Metal Gear Solid 4 has semi-similar controls and those are awesome, so it certainly isn't that it can't be done in a 3rd person shooter/survival or similar game. And making it difficult to aim because of the sloth in the cursor movements does not add suspense imo, it begets frustration and is totally uncalled for in a game that revolves around shooting.
