Forums - Sony - Metacritic scoring for KillZone2 - Double check me on this

Lol, 8 out of 10 is a bad score. :)

Pixel Art can be fun.

What is there not to understand?  They gave it an 8/10 and that's what Metacritic posts.  Metacritic does not monkey around with how they review games or how they weight different catagories, they simply convert the final score to a 100 point score (which is the way it should be).

It's not that hard.

actually metacritic/gamerankings has some funky ways of translating things. 1up gave Uncharted an A- and Metacritic/gamerankings translated that to an 85. IDK about u but I've gotten plenty of 85's in school and it has never been an A-.

On topic: there is no foul play here, the guys at totalvideogame.com gave it an 8/10. I don't know where you see 88.4% (don't get the average, some sites are like IGN where the review score is not the average of all the categories)

Yeah, but even with their letter grades there is still a consistent scale going on there.  What an A- is or isn't isn't really relevant, Metacritic apparently thinks it's an 85 and that is what counts.

I don't trust any Sony reveiew on games, music or movies. Remember Sony got sued over fake movie critics giving good reviews to their own movies?

I can think of 3 reasons why total video games gave KZ2 an 8/10:

1) The final score is a weighted mean of the sub catagories, rather then just a normal mean. This would imply they put a lot of weight on originality.

2) The whole is less than the sum of its parts.

3) They only give out whole number scores from 1-10. They felt 9/10 was to high.
