Forums - Sony - PS3 gets a whole lot brighter with amBX support

So basically, what I get from this, is amBX is going to be a device (or series of) that create physical effects in the real world of what you're experiencing in a game or movie. In other words, there's going to be a device that creates wind currents, lighting effects and base/rumble effects of the entire room you're in that flow with the game or movie you're experiencing to make you feel even more like you're actually there.

Is this right?

@phrancheyez: yep that's it!

I was thinking about it ... Just imagine ... I don't care about the wind effect but colour effect could be really really cool: you're playing FFXIII and you summon shiva, all your room become blue with a little cold breeze ...

ZOMG, I wonder if it's possible?

Ohhhhhhhh! Ohhhhhhhhhh! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I got it :)

Well that's pretty interresting! I hope it won't be too expensive.

Well you already got yourself 2 jobs in order to grab a PS3, a 3rd is no big deal.

lol, epic win

What I want to know, is if I can use amBX compatible hardware and program it from my compuer. That would be cool to be able to control lights/fans from my PC. It would be fun to play with. I don't think I would actually buy anything for my gaming setup though.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I was looking around and it seems that about $300 gets you everything you would need. Of course you could probably buy more fans, lights, etc... if you wish.

Damn, thats for PC gaming.   Its definitely a good price though since it comes with a pretty sweet looking speaker setup.   i hoping that when it compes out for PS3, I will be able to purchase the stuff seperately because I wouldnt need the speakers or sub

PS3 also won't require the vibrating pad because you have the dual shock. You would pretty much need lights and fans. I don't think you would need the speakers either if you are using a 5.1 or 7.1 system. So it actually may end up costing less than I thought.

I hope I am right.
