With all the developer job cuts, what console will get hit by cancellations?

I'll predict PS3 ports of 360 games might be an early casualty.

EA and Activision's main market is the US/UK, the 360 is about 2-1 ahead of the PS3 in those markets, and the PS3 is more expensive and time consuning to develop for.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I agree with the 360 to PS3 ports and add that PS3 exlusive games will get axed or shifted to the Wii360. With the lowest install base and pickiest of gamers they will want to ensure higher sales even with medoicre games.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

It won't be the Wii.

Third party Non-Japanese PSP development. A sector that's already not doing so hot. Even Sony admitted the PSP wasn't a strong focus for their software department and that was before everything suddenly fell apart.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

All game platforms and consoles will be adversely impacted due to the global economic downturn. More game developers could go under and mass sackings and cancellations of games would not surprise me at all.

New consoles could come out much later than expected due to companies not wanting to invest to heavily into R&D for the next console generation. New consoles may only be slight upgrades on current console specifications.

uh, haxxiy?

Wii will actually get more games than previous years due to developers like EA switching their priorities in order to stop losing money

360 will be relatively unaffected, maybe a couple of games that would've been exclusive will now go multiplat. Square Enix have essentially said they don't plan to make as many 360 games in the future

PS3 will be the biggest home console loser

DS should be fine

PSP will be fine in Japan

The problem I see with that is with developer job cuts, there may be less multiplatform titles. Big titles like CoD and Madden won't be affected. But they may be less willing to make a PS3 port of an unproven game. The PS3 fanbase isn't willing to pay full price for year old ports of a great game, as indicated by PS3 Bioshock.

and yet the increasing number of Wii60 and PSWii60 games should more than make up for the decreasing number of PS360 games

But multiplatform games are no good for fanboy ammo!
