Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Big Hitters for 2009 and a comparison.

Satoru Iwata said this year is going to be even bigger in terms of software, so I wonder what is Nintendo going to release.

Im going to list big games, big as in games that will be 2 million sellers LT or more.

2006 - Wii Sports, Zelda TP, Wii Play, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.

2007 - Super Paper Mario, Mario & Sonic, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8, Mario Strikers Charged, Big Brain Academy, Links Crossbow Training, Metroid Prime 3.

2008 - Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, Animal Crossing: CF, Wii Music, Mario Super Sluggers.

2009 - Wii Sports Resort, ????

Which games is Iwata talking about if he said they planned on having a bigger SW showing this year? Maybe Mario Party 10? Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics? Anyways what they have to release to beat 2008's numbers will have to be enormous, and WSR alone will NOT do it.

They are maybe expecting a rather big year from third parties and are possibly not going to release any big hitters. As far as I understand the Gamecube ports arent going to be that big, I doubt any will sell more than 1, let alone 2 million LT.

At least during the first half, the only big game is WSR.

Where are Punch-Out!!, Another Code: R, Sin & Punishment 2, Endless Ocean 2?

They're keeping their cards close to their chest. We didn't know that much about Nintendo's 2008 line up this time last year, and we got good stuff (although, nothing in the fourth quarter, it was still the best software year Wii has had overall).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Im not saying the Wii will have a bad year, Im just wondering which big games they are going to release in order to beat what they achieved last year SW wise. One has to wonder as Wii Fit, MKWii, Brawl, etc were released.

Endless Ocean 2 will not sell 2 million, let alone Trace Memory or S&P2. And the first 2 arent announced for the west.

Punch Out could, but its not a given.

Endless Ocean 2 can sell over a million units.

Trace Memory and Endless Ocean 2 have been announced for Europe.

I feel bad for Nintendo - it's like talking to a brick wall.

Nintendo sais: "Hey guys look, were tired of people mimicing our games *looks at ubisoft*"
Ubisoft: *quickly hides it's notepad and sketch pad and tape recorder and monographer and starts fiddling it's thumbs and whistling*
Nintendo sais: "Any way, we will no longer annouce our games well an ahead of time, instead we will announce them just a few months ahead of a projected release date, this will keep our fans suprised and our competitors guessing."

(5 months later)
Internet Ignance: "So it's January it seems like Nintendo has nothing in the pipe lines for 2009... I guess they used of all their IP's. Let's all speculate!"

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

I think Ninty played alot of their bigger IP's early on to ensure success with the Wii . They won't have as many big hitters as their rival this year IMO , but from a business perspective they probably won't need too many if any at all.

Yea, they've announced a few big hitters for this year already, but there will likely be a few more.

OK I give up, I was just asking which big games were they gonna release and maybe we could speculate, but some people clearly dont know how to read. Who pissed on your cereals today dib8rman? Did you do it yourself so you could have an excuse and come here and spout crap?

@Rhonin, I was talking about the 2 million sellers, thats what I said in the OP. I know EO2 will sell more than 1 million, but I doubt it could sell 2 million. The first one hasnt even sold a million yet after a year in the market.

on one hand ppl clamor about only 1st party titles on the wii......the other it's too little...

a lot of promising 3rd party support this year no need to fixate on ninty
