hell no I can't wait to have my RRoD to fix my DVD drive problem and have all the new nice stuff in my box lol.... I might be the only ass on earth to wish for a RRoD issue lol

Leave it in an enclosed space turned on until it RRoDs. A TV console that has compartments w/ doors to place hardware would be perfect. ;)

trust me I tried but that b**ch won't die lol.... and i'm in SC and we just beat the temperature high of 1956 with 105 °F

maybe if I make it drink watter :)

Well my cousin just gave me his intercooler yesturday and I'm trying it out, its decent. I see know scorch marks or burned marks on my xbox 360. I only play the system for 2-3 hours and I turn it off so really there is nothing going to happen.

I did more digging on this. Seems like the newer Intercoolers will NOT have a power switch on it. The older ones do.

So if yours doesnt have one you probably dont have to worry about the meltdowns the early ones were having.

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

@friedtofu

Yea man, mines don't have a switch its just plain and I just attach it in the back and it turns on when the Xbox 360 turns on. Only thing is I have the white intercooler with no switch.

I did some digging up and found a article in a forum that discussed what the Nyko Intercooler does to your Xbox 360 power brick.

"All people who are thinking about the new intercooler what ever you do DO NOT BUY AN INTERCOOLER.....EVER! I have had personal expierence with the intercooler and nyko. First off let me say that the company nyko is a very bad one in general. They rush their products out to the public so they can make more money. But what they dont have is customer service! When i bought my 360 march of last year i had heard about the overheating problems and decided a month later that i would pick up one of the new intercoolers that nyko makes. I haerd great reviews about it and thought to myself, well they say it will extend the life of your 360 so why not? right i mean get the most of your money.

What nyko doesnt want to tell you is that every game console ever made requires a precise amount of watts/volts going into the system to power it. I believe the 360 takes about 110v to power it. They leave i think 1-2 volts of power to power any add on accesories such as the wireless adapter or to charge a wireless controller. But the nyko intercooler requires 3 volts! Exceeding the limit the 360 has to offer.

So in lamen's term, the intercooler was taking 1 too many volts away from the 360 to power nyko's fan that they had. So what happens is over time (about 4-5 months) the intercooler slowly starts to literally burn your 360! What happened to mine is i started to notice a burning smell in my room and what was happening is the ac adapter that the intercooler had had been completley fried. It was a charcoaled with black and then my 360 broke along with it. The technician said that the intercooler had fried my dvd power supply, the cpu processor itself and most importantly the ac adapter!"

I took mine off immediately. I only had it on my Xbox 360 since Wednesday. So just a warning throw those Nyko Intercoolers in the trash!!!!

P.S.: I know the source is a Playstation website, but the owner of a Xbox 360 posted it.

Reviving an old thread here. Alot of new Xbox owners might find this useful.

I was browsing around to see if there was a black intercooler available for my friends new Elite.I found an article explaning the actual changes made to the new Nyko intercooler to fix the well known electrical burn problems from the early models. Its an older article but alot of people might not be aware of it.

You can tell you have a new model if the plug that goes into the electrical connector is METAL. The old units were plastic. Ive attached a picture. Keep in mind this doesnt just apply to the black ones, the white ones have had this upgrade for a while.

I checked the white intercooler I have for my original launch 360 and it does have the metal plug.

My tip would be to but two hair dryers on each side and put themon max power while playing, thats got to do something... it not.... well you have a oven right ???.... J/K don´t do that at home kids.

Personally I had a XCM High Speed Cooler Addon (15€) installed into my 360, it´s nice and quiet plus it ceeps it nice and cool, since my drive wasn´t that loud to start with I am now very happy with my cool quiet 360.
