I just thought of something, so simple, but with nearly limitless possiblities.

What if the DSi could be used as a Wii peripheral?

Think about it...That would instantly give the Wii a pen interface. Brain Training, Wii Paint, Kanji Practice, etc. Imagine a multiplayer game like battleship where you could use the DSi to make moves in secret, but the results would play out on the big screen. Multiplayer trivia games become a lot more fun because you can keep the answer secret. The possbilities are endless.

In addition, you have the camera which could be used for applications.

This would cost Nintendo fairly little to implement. Sony had the right idea in integrating the PSP but that device lacks unique abilities, all the functions in that device already exist on the PS3. However the DSi brings unique capability that don't currently exist on the Wii.

It was already done with the GBA and GC, FF:CC being a good example

But yeah, with wireless connectivity and the extra features of the DS, they should use it more with the Wii

DSi-Wii connectivity would be great, but, please, without mandatory use.

That is a damn costly peripheral.

It sounds great for a country like Japan, where pretty much everyone has a DS (DS userbasex3 = Wii). In America, it'll be a problem, as the Wii itself seems like it'll outsell the DS. Remember the GBA to GC connectivity? I can't be the only one who missed out on that feature, and the GBA was like, three times more popular than the GC in the US.

Let's hope some 3rd parties can make this idea become reality soon.(Before Ninty does it.) :)

Not everyone will have a DSi though, but I see what you're getting at.

Battleship idea sounds good to me, but I think it's a bit too late in DS' life for this to become mandatory. These ideas should be easy to implement with the handheld's successor, though.
