Forums - Sales - videogame sales outperform DVD/Bluray sales! Also, netflix is growing.

Netflix: Fourth quarter customer base grow to 9.4 million - thanks to Xbox 360.

videogame sales grew by 20% in 2008 - with $32 billion in USD.  That's $3 billion more than DVD/Bluray sales.

I definitely spent a lot more money on videogames, and since HDDVD failed, I've only bought handful of DVDs.  I watch all my movies through Netflix!

You do realize you're comparing sales from $50-$60 games and $200-$500 hardware to sales from only $20-$30 movies? That stat completely ignores box office take and DVD/BR players, which would be the equivalent.

In terms of unit sales, video game software is far far behind DVD sales.

Yeah, that is a dumb statistic. Except for the part about Netflix, apparently the 360 is providing lots of new subscribers.

If the xbox 360 and netflix service had sex with each other... I think this would be the result. It's only natural.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... I realize that, but it's still impressive.

Sales grew by 20%!
