Forums - Sony - Anybody else find the PSN to be very slow...especially lately?

I am extremely happy with all aspects of my PS3 except for the download speeds from the Playstation Store.  It is really slow.  It took me about 24 hours the other day to download about 1 gig worth of data despite my 3 mbps internet connection.  I thought maybe the problem was on my end, but then I saw many people around the net reporting the same thing and IGN even referenced the slow speeds in a recent article.  It's gotta be Sony's servers.  I play Call of Duty on Activision's servers without any hiccups or lag, so I know that my equipment is sending and receiving adequate speed.  Anybody else here with the same problems?  Another weird thing is that the firmware updates don't seem to take overly long.  Most of the time less than an hour.  What, if anything, did you do to remedy the issue?  I bitched to customer service for all of the good that will do.  I've basically stopped downloading anything but the demos I want the most.  Anything else isn't worth the extremely long time it takes.

It has gotten slower lately, cant figure out why

Could be your internet. My downloads are pretty fast.

Don't Worry.....Be Happy

PSN is equally slow for me, though it's not just a recent thing in my case.

Its been going really good for me, but when you download stuff during peak times it goes slow and unless you pause the download and hit resume, it will continue to go slow.

And i'm amazed you find no lag in CoD, i had lag in over 90% of my 5000+ games.

no problems here kid

My internet on the computer is fine. Playing games such as COD are fine. PSN, slow as hell. I even opened the proper ports on my router.

I usually don't lag in games but the PSN itself may be slower. In my case I have an 8 mbps connection, a gigabit router with a category 6 ethernet cable to take advantage of the ps3 gigabit ethernet port, all the necessary ports open and "gamefuel" to boot yet PSN speeds aren't as fast as I would expect. Maybe I'm just more impatient lately...

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

playing games is not the problem for me, rarely any lag. Its the downloads, trophies, profiles and browser that is slow. My computer is having no speed issues so thats why I think its the PSN

NO, maybe your internet.
