Forums - Microsoft - Netflix expects to add one million subscribers due to the Xbox 360.

Company expected to add almost 1 million subscribers

When Microsoft announced that they would be adding Netflix streaming to the Xbox 360, many gamers thought that it was nothing more than an attempt to address the failure of HD DVD and didn’t really think much more about it. It seems, however, that adding Netflix streaming has become quite popular and so much in fact that the company will cash in.

According to the latest reports Netflix could add as many as 1 million new subscribers that are Xbox 360 owners either coming to Netflix for the first time or coming back to Netflix because of the addition of the integrated streaming support.

It is expected that the company will continue to expand its offers to Xbox 360 customers and continue to focus on the retention of these customers. Some analysts are suggesting that Microsoft could sell as many as another 5 to 6 million Xbox 360 consoles in the U.S. alone before the end of the year. This, of course, is good news for Netflix, as they will continue to be able to cash in on these customers.

Interesting stuff!

A. I didn't realise it was this big

B. It could be a really big selling point in the future as word spreads and people tighten their belts and try to save money.

Win for Usans, win for Microsoft and a win for Netflix! I love it when business dealings are this clean.

P.S Usans is just my way of saying "People of the United States of America"

Tease.

Yep, there is always at least 2 people on my friends list who are watching something on Netflix. I knew it was doing well.

They expected it to be less? wow.. lol with 3.6% of the xbox 360 owners now ever having purchased/rented a movie on Netflix, this is supposed to be called a succes? I dont get it..

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

I joined Netflix because of the integration to the Xbox 360.

Netflix is one of the few companies who had a HUGE end to 2008. Made a big profit. Subscribers soared in part to all the devices adding streaming support. 360, Tv's, DVD Players, Mac got supported, etc..

Hopefully they will use that huge profit to add more servers and improve the streaming during peak times (evening hours). I love the service but like many users around the US...it has been really hard to get a good connection in the evening as it has gotten more and more popular.

I am at blockbuster.com and I keep thinking about switching to Netflix for this added feature.

Netflix is a great company and the added streaming support is really a great way for them to force themselves into everyone's household.

i love it and an a very happy user

i signed up just for the streaming but found myself getting a bunch of anime dvds to the door as well

my only complaint is that now my wife wants to use my box and i have to fight her for time

I upgraded my account to try the service. I think it has promise, but the current library is not very good. I don't think it is worth the extra money to Netflix until they offer better content. Much of the content offered is also offered through my on demand service, and it is much better quality.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
