For a second I thought it was real (for like the first paragraph) and even I started to hate sony fans for doing something this stupid. I realized this was fake when the "leader" started to talk like Yoda.

I'm laughing at how many people think this is real. Its just satire so unfunny it comes off as poorly written journalism rather than a joke.

I would speculate that is it.  It is also too much of an inside joke here, and not over the top enough to let people on.  It should start of modest and then grow to absurd proportions at the end.

However, it is interesting how satire can be more true than one ever intended.  Like, when the former president Bush (Jr.) was being inaugerated, The Onion wrote that the nightmare of peace and prosperity was over.  Considering what had happened the past 8 years, it ended up being ironic in a prophetic sense.
