Observation:

*The 'PS3 has no game' was a fairly valid statement for 2006 and for at least half of 2007, the amount of exclusives content at this stage looks truly pathetic. (however the same could be said for 360 at its early cycle.)

*The sharp increase of overall as well as quality exclusives in 2008 is similar to the phenomenon observed for the 360 in 2007 (second full year of life cycle).

*The amount of exclusives being released are relatively equal if you compare them by year of release (ie: 360 2005 - PS3 2006) with the favour going towards the 360 by 3-4 titles yearly.

*The reason many people still persist with the '360 games going to PC' route seems to come from the porting of some VERY high profile 360 exclusives such as Gears of War, Mass Effect and the upcoming project of Fable II.

Thanks, I personally think this entire argument hold as much weight as 'PS3 has no game' in that it uses selective data to come to a false conclusion while ignoring any and all rebuttal. (I still like my PS3 better though xD)

FYI, to Chrizum and everybody wondering about the Wii, I did a little bit of preliminary data collecting, and believe it or not, the Wii holds it's own admirably against both consoles.

90+=3
80+=9
70+=26

It doesn't dispell the rumor that the Wii is lacking in third party or multiplatform support though, but if I tally the percentages it seems more of Wii's top tier exclusives are third party than many would think.

The first 2 years for the 360 and the first 1.67 years of the PS3 were both pretty average in terms of true exclusives.

EDIT: you could actually argue that GoW should be on that list you just posted with a "*" beside it, since it was exclusive for a fair bit of time and had the effect of an exclusive.

EDITx2: In terms of the OP's numbers, I think the interesting part of is that the 360 only has 3 more games of 80+. (which I think is the more important figure) However the lead grows quite a bit when you factor in 70+. But since opinions on games are subjective, people can say "pfft, well I think it deserved an "x". However I do realize what the point of this thread is.

I have a strong bias towards the HD consoles. I freely admit that I am a very shallow graphic whore and the easiest way to get my attention is to bring me big guns, bigger explosion and even bigger... other things.

Key difference though, is the ability to be subjective and appreciate something for what it is.

I don't think everybody has the stomache to read War and Peace, that doesn't stop everyone from admitting that it is one of the greatest literary piece of our time.

Well they're basically the same thing. Maybe a game or two would have changed positions, but nothing major. I used Metacritic becuase of the superior searching tools. Gamerankings has poor search tools in comparison and would have made the process take longer.
