Forums - Sony - Don't claim Killzone 2 will be sub-par without playing it.

My prediction: KZ2 will outsell cod:WaW (ps3) before June. If I fail, I'll surely eat crow or change my precious Aya Brea avatar to suit whoever calls me out on this

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I claim that Killzone 2 will be sub-par... in sales

Killzone 2 will sell less then Call of Duty:WaW

Well since World at War is MULTIPLATFORM that isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as Killzone does at least 2-3mill, which it should do that easily, I don't get your claim of sub par sales. Would YOU say that if it was a 360 exclusive, I highly doubt it.

Wouldn't the game's selling potential go up if it were exclusive to 360? I'm just assuming that were talking about a Microsoft marketed first person shooter here, so I don't think it would dissappoint at all. Then again, it may not dissappoint on PS3 either, but that's up to the awesome marketing team over at Sony.

It probably would sell better on the 360, my point to him though is I doubt he'd give the game this kind of criticism had it not been a PS3 exclusive, judging from his post history. The game could sell 5 mill and people will still try to hold its success as "not that great". That's all I was getting at :)

That goes without saying. He has his allegiances and you have yours.

I have not played it yet, though from what we've seen Killzone 2 seems to do what it set out to do very well (An advertisement of PS3 Horsepower) The gameplay looks very nice but again to fully judge I will have to play it. That being said , I dont think PS3 owners are claiming Killzone 2 to be a "Be all end all" Game.

Why bring Haze or Lair into the conversation if you weren't implying any similarities here?

The bolded works for the reading impaired as well

Your initial point was "Sony is spending a ton of money, and there is a lot of hype, so the game has to be awsome" ...

Lair and Haze are perfect counter examples to this being that there was a lot of money spent on these games, there was a lot of hype surrounding the games and until the games started receiving a steady stream of negative reviews there was a lot of talk about how these games were going to be awsome.

The primary difference between Lair/Haze and Killzone 2 is not "Lazy developers" as much as it is publishers who forced incomplete games onto the market because the budget of the games was growing to a level where their sales couldn't justify further investment. For some reason Sony dumped Lair onto the market, and allowed Killzone 2 to blow through the estimated $50 Million budget that was taked about when it had a early 2008 release date ... Why they did this is unknown, and could be because Sony couldn't have another highly anticipated Sony published game get "destroyed" by reviewers.

Well I haven't played it and even though I have read plenty of beta tester's love for this game, I can't say that it will be a great game. What one person likes about it may be the reason y another person hates it. When I get my hands on it I will be able to judge. I just think that it is stupid for somebody to say "well they made killzone 1 and we know how that turned out."

dont claim killzone 2 will be awesome with out playing it?

don't claim it will be godly or amazing either without playing it then. and don't use reviews as a point either. Reviews are opinions, and i accept a reviewers score just as credible as random joe on the street that played the game

To be fair, that really has nothing to do with Killzone 2 and more to do with how everyone reacts to every game in this situation of a developer they don't feel has made anything worthwhile and their newest project taking the heat for it. The Conduit, Imagine series, Madden, Petz, Ninja Blade, Demon Souls, Call of Duty Treyarch edition, etc. all get the same treatment because of past indiscretions from the developers making them.

Ah, if only all gamers would do that.

yea i know, i feel sorry for a lot of them.  THere are some great games that i have or played that are in the 6's for their overal reviews.  And some 9's that i have found to be boring or suck.

But I guess as I said its an opinion, so maybe those games i hate and love are oposite for them
