Forums - Gaming - Which console control stick layout do you prefer? (includes descriptions!)

Using the table below identify which layout you prefer to use when you play a console game.  If you have multiple preferences for different genres please post each one with the appropiate genre labeled!  Idealy every console would have full 100% customization for controls but we are stuck with, at most, these 4 options (usually just default and southpaw.)  Thank you for participating in my informal survey.

*Edit* If you prefer to use a Wii Mote you are welcome to mention that!

I don't think that legacy system even exists. Why would you mix movement and looking between both sticks?

When I think "legacy," I picture N64 or PSP controls, meaning just 1 stick.

Default makes the most sense because you are devoting 1 stick to movement and the other to aiming.

Default.......but I don't play a lot of shooters.

Edit: I didn't see the wiimote option....so I'll go with that.

All 4 of these layouts exist.  Legacy is only implemented by certain developers though.

You don't even list inverted Y or X axis.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I prefer Wiimote and Nunchuck.

Given time, I can get used to pretty much anything, though.

That is an independant function.

Default.

I hate the last gen games that don't allow it. Original Halo comes to mind. Only when Evovled came out, the game was actually playable.

I especially hate the games that let you change the vertical look controls, but not the horizontal.

up looks up (changeable)
down looks down (changeable)
left looks right (set)
right looks left (set)

Default Wii Controls

Obviously if the Wii's setup is put on a classic pad you get a default set up so that's the one I like
