dark layouts are generally easier on the eyes, especially at night-time.

I really like this blueish grey layout colour. Its nice and calm imo. What this site could do with is an option to change the layout colour to suit personal preference :P

That's what I was suggesting. Most forums nowadays do have multiple layouts to choose from.
