Forums - Microsoft - X360 Triple threat of GTA4 DLC, Star Ocean 4, Halo Wars vs KZ2

You put a DLC on the list, sorry a DLC wont sell games and they wont advertise it. Halo wars is an RTS, even if it has halo in the name it will still be lame. Star ocean 4 I will give you that, but it wont be better than kz2. And that is basically all the 360 has i the year :P There is a lot more stuff for ps3 later, which are even better than kz2.

You forgot infamous on the ps3 list??

I really don't see how an RTS (despite being Halo), DLC and SO4 on the 360 are going to take away sales from from Killzone 2 on the PS3. Not only are they on different consoles, but the FPS genre is the "it" genre of HD systems.

But this is a RayRay thread, so what did I expect really? He made the exact same thread before but he included Ninja Blade that time around. He also didn't understand the notion that a game like InFamous (made by a quality develeloper in Sucker Punch) is a safer bet to a be good game then it is for Ninja Blade and Demon's Soul. (made by the mediocre From Software...Otogi aside I am told)

KZ2 still has more hype then all those combined.

Where?  In the entire world, or just on Internet forums like this.  Again, this thread here I started looks into this:

The question is: How much does Internet game forum buzz correspond to actual sales and hype off the Internet?

TRUST ME

Yakuza 3 releasing a week after SO4 wills sell more systems than killzone 2

why?

as Yakuza is from a strong franchise on PS2....while Killzone isn't + SONY refuse to market anything so thats another reason

How many more systems will Yakuza 3 sell over Killzone 2?

I think the Smarter thing for M$ would have been to release Halo ODST instead of Halo wars to better compete with the KZ2.

but three against one still ain't bad.

Microsoft is still milking Gears 2.  Why would they launch Halo in light of this?  Halo Wars is Halo done different, so it makes sense.  What Microsoft can do with Gears 2 is launch yet another map pack or add on for it during February, to draw attention to Gears 2 once more.

Eh, I'm not sure with Japan's natural dislike for consoles it seems, but hardware should go up to around 40-50k depending on what it is the week before.

GTA4 DLC in my mind is the only possible threat imo.

What will the DLC do? I can't see it doing anything that the actual GTAIV didn't do 20-fold.

SO4 will only have an impact in Japan, where Killzone 2 doesn't even have a release date yet.

But really, none of these games are system sellers (aside from SO in Japan), and since they're all on competing consoles, I don't see what the big deal is.

Doesn't the Star Ocean franchise sell more in NA than Japan?

no. only star ocean 3 did.

I thought it was determined GTA4 DLC was over hyped and claims that it was the only way to expeience GTA4 was unsubstantiated.

And I thought it was deterned GTA4 DLC isn't that big of a deal that dissapointed many.

You thought wrong.

It was determined that the GTAIV DLC created the only way to experience the COMPLETE GTAIV.

GTAIV disappointed some, the DLC has received nothing but good press.

@montana

but the thing is Killzone 2 isn't that hyped.

not as much as MGS4, GTA 4 or even LBP was

the mass audience doesn't know or care about it

This is largely untrue.

LBP was advertised a fair bit, but wasnt known to the public really or it would have done better.

Killzone sold two million copies I'm told.

Killzone 2 is the single most hyped PS3 game since FFXIII was announced multi-platform.

I said in another thread that this game is an ENORMOUS deal to Sony.  They are unlikely to be able to price cut till the end of the year at the earliest.  So Killzone 2 is pretty much the thing they are counting on to shift systems.
