Actually if you look at polling, when people try to touch or take away Social Security, its a shitstorm. Its one of the reasons why Bush got in so much trouble in his 2nd term.
Japan is actually having a lot of problems with its elderly as well. The government has take then attitude that it is the children's job to take care of their parents in terms of managed care, etc., but the kids have stopped caring as much as the generations have gone on. Some old people have been lashing out, committing crimes, and even killing people just to get attention. Its a really bizarre phenomenon. You had an older woman just stab a young girl in the middle of the crowd because she said she was so lonely. It seems like some of them aren't able to get access to psychiatric care very easily.

I think as long as the President gets respect, America will soon gain the good reputation they once had from other countries. I am glad that all these countries respect Obama. I just hope people around the world will start to like us more.

From what I have seen, very little of the "disrespect" that American's receive in other countries comes from their president ...
I think one thing people never seem to consider is that Obama is set up to be a massive "failure" primarily because people's expectations of him are entirely unrealistic. When it starts to become clear that Obama can not give a speech that heals the world, and he starts to make decisions which are not (necessarily) in everyone's best interest, it will be interesting to see how "loved" he is then

What you are saying is like, "I am going to go out with this girl. If she doesn't like me, I am a failure. She has already shown a lot of interest in me and was the one who asked me out." Of course you can always fail, but does anything get accomplished by sitting there and dwelling on the negative possibilities? Should you just not go out on the date because you might fail?
