Recession = Less employed people
Less employed people = less sales in non-necessities
Video game software = non-necessities

That's all I'm going to say.

It's all due to an over reliance on 'the next big thing' and having to rely on credit (which is now sparce) to carry studios for years until their game comes out. And if that game flops....

The industry needs to learn from Nintendo's example. While blockbuster games (like movies) will always have a place, developers need to balance their line-up with small innovative games and evergreen titles as well.
