... and maybe that because i'm too old for videogames but I remember the time when Mario was challenging (yes I know Mario Galaxie is challenging too) in a flat screen. I found that joy the day I've play the new super mario bros.
New Super Mario Bros. didn't really have all that I loved from the originals.
I dk, after whats happened to Wario (talking sales) i really dk if they would do it.
My opinion is that the 2d parts of SMG were some of my favorite sections in the levels. I would love to see more 3d/2d mixed levels in any and all Mario games but exclusively 2d isn't my preference.
Mixing 2d and 3d i think is what made SMG's 2d levels so entertaining, you had the choice, and i think it juxtaposed the gravity play dynamics and traditional 3d platforming elements really effectively.
So my choice is 2d but not exclusively, mix it up please.

Miyamoto has already stated in interviews via the 'Ask Iwata' website that a Sequel to Mario Galaxy is in the works. And hinted at a sequel to New Super Mario Bros.
Personally, I want a Luigi based game with the game engine of New Super Mario Bros, but where he has the moves from Smash Bros Brawl and can turn into Mr. L! But such is the dream.....
