New super mario bros on the ds was a huge succes. Don't you think Nintendo should produce a new mario in 2-d ?

Sure... on the DS. But on the Wii, Galaxy is a great game and I'd like to see the 3D games continue.

Sega have just announced a wiiware parody of the 2d super mario bros games, perhaps that will satisfy the itch for 2d Mario.

Looking at that, we see (ignoring the first 3 games because they clearly scheduled to get lots of release games for the DS) that there has been one game per year, in April, May or June.

Clearly they won't release another Daigasso game in '09
It also seems very unlikely that they will release a Big Brain Academy in '09.

So either they will be making a Mario game, or a new IP.

Now, we already know that EAD Software Group Tokyo is currently making a 3d platformer Mario referred to as Mario Galaxy 2, so EAD4 clearly aren't working on a 3d Mario platformer.

Im for the idea of 2-d platformers for DS and 3-d ones for the Wii.

 Was going to type I agree 100%. But then I thought - Won't it be nice to have a 2d Mario on Wii with super amazing graphics and like 10 times bigger than Super Mario World.

Why does every one assume that 2D Mario and 3D Mario can't exist on the same platform? I want my 2D mario and I want it sprited with sound effects (boing) instead of voice acting (woo hoo) with arcade like gameplay that uses skills not memorization.
