Chrono Trigger for me as well, sorry to be unoriginal.

For a more original answer, that would possibly be true if it weren't for Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You is pretty awesome.

I'm going with Kingdom hearts or Chrono Trigger.

Kingdom Hearts is not a masterpiece of a game, but it's got soul, which I think FF has lacked for a while now.

Chrono Trigger is basically a masterpiece of a game.
