Forums - Sales - Aaron Greenberg Responds To Statements Made By Kaz Hirai : PS3 is dead

@Scottie: I believe he's using the latest NPD as a reference. How would it add up then?

also @ ymeaga1n

Seems likely

360 sales in December 2008 NPD = 1.44m

Double the PS3 sales in December 2008 NPD = 1.46m

Gap = 0.02 million

Going off the VGChartz current gap of 7.5 million, which agrees with Greenberg's "U.S. install base lead now of more than 7 million units" We get

Number of weeks to catch up 1 million = 50

Number of weeks to catch up 7.5 million = 375

Year in which the PS3 would catch up = 2016

Well there we go...

Aaron Greenberg to respond to the statements made by Kaz. Here’s what Aaron had to say in response:

This sounds like an old hardware company that’s comfortable with its market position. That complacent attitude is out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today. This generation won’t be won over just hardware specs, but who can out-innovate when it comes to online and software. This is the kind of stuff that’s in our DNA, and frankly moves the console war onto our home court.

I’m confident we will outsell the PS3 throughout the entire generation by providing more innovation and building the best and broadest games library while growing our entertainment experiences on the leading online network. With a U.S. install base lead now of more than 7 million units (according to NPD), I can’t imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us. In fact, even if you doubled the current PS3 sales and Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn’t close the gap until 2014.

Wow! Aaron just through his gauntlet down. I mean he really put it down! This could get interesting.

IT sounds like he's describing Nintendo there. He must be, because the Wii provides a web browser for online, but the 360 doesn't.

Why don't you take a gander at that dar page... funny the crazy shit you can do with a media center extender

Greenberg defended an unprovoked attack. Thus he comes off as much less petty.

Regardless, this thread will surely be almost as epic as the other.

Weird :)

Didn't he just state that he didn't want to respond to it, because one should not do so, and focus on one's own console? :)

Weird how the wind changes each and every single day

from that thar page:

"MCEBrowser is a plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Center which allows you surf the internet using a Media Center remote control. Either Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system or Microsoft Windows Vista with Media Center is required to use this software."

I don't remember needing to go through a PC to browse the net with a Wii or PS3

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Well, i think both Sony and M$ talks BS. But i can't agree on Greenbergs statment that 360 will outsell PS3 the rest of the generation. He's delusional. He will be forced to eat up these words many times in 09.

Everyone remembers last year when Ps3 was 100 dollar more, it outsold 360 by atleast 50k every single week anyways. How do you think it will be when a price cut will appear? Ok, M$ will for sure lower there price, but i don't think it will help them that much anymore. I mean, the cheapest 360 cost less than a Wii and still doesn't sell that many more consolse than Sony. Look att the latest numbers. 360 doesn't even outsell PS3 with 50k, and sinking.

Maybe 360 will win over Ps3 in US, but it won't in Europe or Japan. Last time i looked the world was'nt called United States.

Greenberg the Tool speaks again. I think his comments will bring down M$.

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil
