Forums - Gaming - GameStop Employee: “Corporate Makes Me Do It”

The thing I don't like about game stores is they sometimes will sell you a used copy that is full of scratches (I bought FFVIII that way and it wouldn't play after the opening cinema), and I live about 150 miles round trip from the store, so I never really had a chance to take it back. Of course that was the first used game that I bought from them, so I try to be more careful now.

meh, I get my games mostly from Ebay, new or used. If day one purchase then probably even Walmart.

from my experience with controllers the gamestop ones are not that bad, but indeed they tend to wig out quicker. and as a former employee we did not have to push those, we would mention the cheaper ones and also the cons of them and 8 out of 10 times they would get the regular sony or xbox controllers.

They don't need to mention pros and cons of anything. Just say "ok, you have two choices x brand for y dollars or Sony's for z dollars."

Let the customer decide and only give more info if they ask.

yeah, but the problem is those pros/cons are almost always based on bias personal preference, vs actual fact.

but doesnt personal prefernce sometimes come from personal experience?

@ SHIO

NO DUDE YOU SHUT UP..lol what is that your mad cause I give my opinion on the matter? it's a proven fact that 3rd party accessories are most of the time inferior to 1st party.

And logitec may make a OK gamepad or a mouse and keyboard but you GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR you buy cheap you get cheap quality...I use to support 3rd party accessories UNTIL every gamepad I went through either a button stopped working or was stuck or the WHOLE controller itself messed up...dont knock me for giving my opinion on the matter due to my experiences...GROW UP

I''ve seen Gamestop staff tell a lady that she had to buy a console cooling station or her PS2 would catch on fire. I also had one swap the real case for Condemned with a case for MX Superfly for the PS2 when I bought the game. Gamestop employees are shadier than used car salesmen.
