30 million easily I think, might get close to 35 depending when in the year the price cut would happen. 40 million completely out of reach for this year, PS3 would have to pull Wii numbers for that to happen.

According to current VGChartz data, 10,303,894 PS3s were sold between January 5th, 2008 and January 3rd, 2009. That was with an extremely underpreforming holiday season and no pricedrop whatsoever.

I'd say that 30 million by the end of 2009 is pretty much guaranteed. If Sony plays their cards right and combines a $100 price drop along with the releases of God of War III in America, Gran Turismo 5 in Europe, and Final Fantasy XIII in Japan, all during Q4 of this year, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony managed to sell as many as 15 million consoles by January 2010.

Obivously, the PS3 would have to sell worst in 2009 then it did in 2008 (which it shouldn't) it should sell more in 2009.

The PS3 sold 11 million in 08 and is obviously going to sell better in 2009, but even if it sold the exact same and sold another 11 million durring 2009 then the total would be 30 million, it shouldn't sell less then that, what with the price cut and huge exclusives for 2009.

I highly doubt God of War 3, GT5, and FFXIII will all make it this year.  Maybe one or two (FFXIII in Japan of course) but all three? with ps3's track record of delays i wouldn't count on it

Huge amount of games for 2008, price cut. Sold 11 million. Now, a smaller amount of games. One of the biggest titles won't push consoles, because it comes out on the cheaper 360 too. Bad publicity, plus, terrible holiday as someone pointed out. Face it. PS3 isn't doing so hot.

Your post doesn't make any sense. For one, you completely made up that quotation in an effort to prove your point, whatever that point was, because it doesn't seem to relate to the discussion whatsoever. Secondly, there was no price cut in 2008, I'm not sure how you don't know this. Lastly, 360 had a lot of bad publicity *cough*RROD*cough* back in early 2008 after an underperforming holiday season too. That certainly didn't keep the 360 from coming around, did it?

 actually in beginning 08 it was coming off a late 07 pricecut so theres some validity to his statement.
