it should get 30 but not 40 this year

So it will be somewhere between 30 and 40M ... Enough to beat the 360 this year?

 you mean pass it in overall sales? no. but outsell it for the year, then very likely. ps3 can actually just sit back and lose in sales but then cut the price during holiday season and then watch magic occur. thats exactly what MS did in 08.

i think 30 million is very possible but def not 40 million.

and no i don't think the ps3 will outsell 360 this year even with the awesome lineup. 

I'm sorry but (over 10 Million in roughly 11 and a half months)... nope, not going to happen.

yeah one thing is for sure both sony and microsoft are going to continue this heavy weight battle.  I this year we are going to start seeing both companies going all out.  Which there has been awesome stuff already this gen so that only means good news for all of us.  The thing is Sony is looking to gain ground on 360 so they are gonna have to put out great stuff and microsoft knows how competent sony is in the gaming business so they are gonna have to keep rolling out stuff to fight back.  Like I said I think we'll really see the battle starting this year.

No price cut, no, not even a small chance. With a price cut, possible.

30 millions is a safe bet.

Let's say it will sell an average of 200k weekly sales x 50 remaining weeks + 2 millions of holiday bonus sales.

Well it will sell about 32 millions by the end of the year. But i'm not sure it will sell as much as 200k in average, so this is an optimistic prediction. Maybe 30 millions but not lower than that.

Sony is starting the year much weaker than it started 2008, with much less momentum, a lot of bad PR, bad financials and stronger competition.

In light of that I am struggling to see why 2009 would turn out to be better than 2008 for the PS3 as suggested by the 30M number.
