Very well done, this game looks awesome, heavy rain looks better though but i think its because of the design of this game.

What Genre is it btw? Perhaps it'll play better then Heavy Rain which could very well be the case.

Psycho horror I believe. Tied for best genre for me; right with good JRPGs.

Sounds solid, so monsters or something? gotta start looking up info on this game.

Yup, outside of Diablo III this is my most wanted game atm.

Is this coming out for PC at the same time as 360? If so I would bet for two reasons (one good and one bad) it will do worse then expected. On the good side a lot of people who have both a 360 and gaming quality PC will get it on the PC. As Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect and many more show if you have the choice things will undoubtedly look and play FAR better on a PC unless your PC is a dog (using anything made by AMD for instance). I don't think anyone with both a very good (capable of very high settings) computer would argue against getting games that are on both for the PC, but there might be ONE guy out there somewhere.

The bad reason is a lot of the people who aren't motivated enough to mod chip the Xbox 360 (and might actually buy it for 360) are certainly capable enough to just DL it from Pirates bay. I like to pretend that isn't most of the community, but I bet its at least 30% of potential customers. I've pirated music, some movies (ones not worth 20 bucks to see in theatres or buy on DVD) and especially TV shows (which are aired free anyway) but I would never pirate a game; most of the non casual community doesn't seem to agree however.

My guess is a few hundred thousand unless it pulls something near straight 10s. I hope its good, the last weird adventure type game I've played that really impressed me was Indigo Prophecy which is what, 6 years old now?

I know right, cause L4D and Fallout 3 recently tanked on the 360 because of everyone getting them for pc. LOL.  What a joke.

Thats better than Gears, MGS4, Halo & Killzone 2 and right on the edge of Crysis level visuals.....the one picture I almost thought was a real life picture!!!

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

@CGI- i know, but i cant really count Heavy Rain as a game, 1) it looks to damn good for this gen, 2) it'll be an interactive movie from the looks of it.

Alan Wake looks like a Next gen of that one clock-tower game from the PS2.

I heard somewhere that the "creatures " come out at night, so I would guess monsters; though in the latest trailer (check the sig :P) the enemies appear to be humans with axes and such.

BTW, how far are you on SO3? I'm stuck at that damn pixie in the mountains looking for the Marquis dragon; he keeps killing my MP -_-;

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I know right, cause L4D and Fallout 3 recently tanked on the 360 because of everyone getting them for pc. LOL.  What a joke.

Fallout 3 almost certainly was a better game then Alan Wake will be, came from a strong brand of other awesome games and was in contention for game of the year, particularly on the PC/360.  Even with all that anticipation it only sold 400k on the 360 at release.  It's not that Alan Wake won't sell at ALL if there is a PC release at the same time, its that Alan Wake will not be doing the 500-1 million in first week sales several people have said on the thread.  Left for dead sold 250k the first week, again far less then 500-1 million and it was a Valve game with a whole lot of cache.

If strong games from strong publishers don't pull 500-1 mil when released at the same time as PC then why would Alan Wake be different.  There are a lot of people who would rather buy games that are on both for the PC, it looks betters, sounds better and plays better by far in almost every case (and in the case of games like L4D comes with free online which the 360 does not).

It probably also helps that PC games are significantly less then 360 games (I saw Left 4 dead at 25 bucks on Amazon before Christmas for the PC) with a minimum of 10 dollars in savings.

There is a difference between saying its going to tank (not saying that) and its not going to put of anything like a truly console exclusive title like Gears of War 2 or Halo 3.  Somewhere between L4Ds 250k and Fallout 3s 400k seems about right.  Maybe 2 million lifetime on 360.

Jaggedsac, I understand your annoyance; but don't respond to this. The less encouragement the better.
