Hear me out!!!
I'm playing Prince of Persia and there are segments wher you're sliding down ramps and you jump from one to the other, then you have to do a wall run and then wall jump up like 4 times to land on something. The whole time I was thinking to myself, if you could make this faster, this would be a really cool Sonic game.
I've read that the developers say its too hard because Sonic runs horizontally at blah blah i'm lazy speed so we'd have to make like 5 billion miles in the game. I don't buy that, but lets assume its true. I think maybe the big thing should be that now Sonic moves vertically. The levels have you climbing up something, than speeding down.
Prince of Persia is really good at having stages that are fairly linear, with you having a few choices here and there about what direction to travel in. Like... that is Sonic. Just crank the speed up, throw some rings in there, make the boss battles like a Prince of Persia battle except instead of sword attacks its like spin dash, spin shield, etc, and make Elika an orange fox with two tails. PoP even has pads that launch you all over the stage. All they need for a Sonic game is those pads to launch you past 1ups that you can't reach and its perfect.
Did anybody else get that feeling while playing it?
