Killzone 2 has been in development for 5+ years... Over 5 YEARS. Although Killzone 2 looks very good, it is the result of Sony applying unprecedented manpower to make this game look this good. If you take a competent developer and give them money + 5 years, they would probably be able to make a game that looks just as amazing on either PS3/360.

what the hell are you talking about,,,Killzone 2 has been in development for 3 years and 2 months(after the killzone liberation for PSP was mostly done)

5 years ago the PS3 dev kits didn't even existed.

At the time of E3 2005, Killzone 2 had already been in development for around a year. Although Sony hadn't released the final devkits, their developers were already using early ones and designing their game around the cell processor/working on art/story/plot/etc. So yes, Killzone 2 has been in development for around 5 years.

So work didn't begin on the game until several months after the E3 where they showed gameplay footage?  No design work, no architectural discussions, nothing, but somehow they got some pre renders developed?

Most likely wasn't 5+ years, but it was definitely more than 3 years 2 months.

This.

Really it makes no sense to say development hadn't started back then... To make those pre-renders a lot of graphical assets were necessary... Of course nothing next to making the whole game, but since we have no information we should assume that work had started back then.

My vote goes to Duke Nukem 3d

well Halo has a certain style to it, you cant beaf up the graphics to Gears of War level or else it wouldn't be Halo

Watch how bad the sales look compared to halo 3 sales.

Nice way to use bullshots to make halo3 look bad guys, and Halo3 is still one of the best looking games this gen. Its no KZ2, but its no doubt the best looking 360 title to date.

Although Too Human had 5+ years, it lacked both a competent developer and money. Although SK made one of my favorites games, Eternal Darkness, they have serious planning issues. I stand by what I said. Give Naughty Dog or Bioware 5 years, more money, and more employees and you'll have yourself a game that in all probability would look as good as Killzone 2.

Def the pc version of mass effect is gorgeous (as well as 360).  Give Bioware a 60 million + budget and five years and their game would be mind blowing
