halo 3 has sold on par with starcraft and should outsell it eventually. However halo wars wouldn't outsell starcraft even if it was on the pc, which it isn't.
Starcraft 2 will outsell halo wars with its korean sales alone.

That's because there was no sequel to steal away Starcraft's fans. :P Age fans are now divided between Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology (where I fall), and Age of Empires III. The Age of Empires series (not including Mythology, from what I understand), has thus far sold over 20 million units. |
Exactly. I am Age of Empires II. AoM was no doubt an awesome game, but it came out too close to AoE II for me to leave it. Plus I prefer the historical setting of course. And AoE III, tried it, also good game, but I never got hooked.
So I still spend many hours playing AoE 2 online. It rules.
Hmm, no doubt that SC II will pull this one into its corner.
About the AoE SC comparison.
Blizzard OWNS this genre (with SC and WC).
AoE was a fun game and I enjoyed it (didn't like the third one though), but the depth, variety, balance, pace and everything else all point to SC winning that battle too.
SC is the defining RTS of all time, with Dune 2 to thank for igniting the genre, WC for setting the bar, WC3 for its hero-use, but overall, nothing touches SC imho. (and reading up on sites and magazines, SC is the top RTS of all time in their lists as well generally).
Well, I'll put this down quite easily.
Sales:
Starcraft 1 sold over 10M (my game-pack says so!).
While PC sales are dropping a lot compared to consoles, Blizzard might not be as heavily affected. Even if they are, 1998 PC market is still smaller than 2009 PC market (I would believe, the console buisiness has increased close to 75% over 5th gen).
I mean, how effected can Blizzard be? They still have over 10M people playing the most successful game ever, and paying for it monthly!
Starcraft 2 is bound to sell at least 6M (maybe not first year, but this seems to be a heavily legged title).
Can Halo Wars beat that? Not a chance. People are discussing whether Killzone 2 can beat Halo Wars. Can Killzone 2, the sequel to a rather crappy FPS beat the sequel to what is commonly accepted as the greatest RTS of all time? No way.
Quality:
It's subjective, but I'm willing to say that even if Halo Wars was better, it wouldn't be recognized as better, because it is Halo (which is one of the most hated franchises ever).

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS
AOE2 had a fucked up online.. I know me and other people could only play by direct ip...
Personally I'm more of an AOE2 and AOM fan but the SC name is huge... and Halo Wars is on a console. Even with halo.... the winner will be clear.
Is this thread a joke ?
Starcraft 2 will sell more copies in Korea than Halo Wars worldwide.

I disagree, IMO AoE and AoM was just as much fun Starcraft and Warcraft. As for outselling it, I do not see it happening. Starcraft II will sell loads, not to mention it is selling in 3 parts.

The best RTS ever made is Total Annihilation, Starcraft comes in second/third position depending on how you consider Warcraft 3...
Now I wouldn't diminish Halo Wars to much.. it is not a RTS on console but a console-RTS with a big brand name and a consequent install base.
Figures will be very interesting indeed !
PS: Note that 360 fans have the decency not to literally skins this forum with HW signature, ads, video, posts, review, silly blogs comments ... unlike the KZ2 support group...
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

GameRanking means very little when you consider how each have stood the test of time. Starcraft, up until recently, was still widely played online. It is also mentioned in several 'best games of all time' lists because of that very reason. Undoubtedly, both are great games, but Starcraft stuck around longer for a reason.

Well, I would have to say that is because of the rabid online component, in which Starcraft excels at twitch gameplay. AoEII had a much stronger lean towards infrastructure which makes online games somewhat slow unless you alter the starting resources and such.
Sardauk that's probably becouse probably almost noone cares :) How many FPS lovers can be also counted as huge RTS fans ? Especially among those who only own x360 and never had gaming pc in home ?

Exactly , you have to start somewhere.
