Probably not though I dont think they need to win one.
They might get close one day, but I don't think they ever will.

Nintendo still doomed?

well depends what is meant by winning a gen, imo theres 2 types of winning a gen. 1 is which company makes the most cash and sales, and 2 which company provides gamers with the best games.....................so option 2 for a gamer is what matters most
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

Nope, that was marked off last generation.
|
by rough estimates casual gamers are 40% of the market |
Probably more like 80% of the market is teh casuals.

Historically number 1 has meant number 2...
If Microsoft shifts its focus to the casual fanbase, then maybe. They'll also need to crack the Japanese market somehow. With such a strong library of games it amazes me that it still can't sell a million consoles in Japan in after 3 years now.
| Squilliam said: Sony kinda got handed the crown with the PS1 due to the weakness of their competitors. Again with the PS2 the competitors were even weaker. I don't really see any more brilliance in their actions than Microsoft. They were called geniuses, but I doubt they ever were. Anyone can play the "Throw money around game", and in those generations performance/price really did count for something. At this point I would have to rank their chances: 1. Nintendo. (By a large margin) 2. Microsoft. (Already have massive research in these fields) 3. Sony. So I would say that next generation is as good a time as any for Microsoft to take the overall crown. It seems like a long shot, but most likely even if they do win the next generation, it will be remembered as "How Nintendo snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory". |
I really can't take many of your posts seriously squilliam (some are classic though . The PS1 and PS2 were victorious because of weaker competition ? surely that applies to any generation and not just the one's where the Sony console happened to win.
And i'm not suprised by your ranking of chance either.
Anything could happen, but I don't think MS will win next generation, and it's focus will have to change significantly before it can win. Right now the company is still so focused on Sony. How are you going to win when your competition is third place?
