Microsoft is quickly getting Wii goodies too however (Mii-Avatars, casual games, lowest price console, family/friend features and games, nice friendly commercials like the Wii). This is a little harder to buy with money so it isn't going to work this gen just yet but next gen with MS copying both PS and Wii, MS can have a good chance in winning. Also I think both MS and PS is looking at motion control stuff.

Also to think MS can't win a gen ever is weird thinking. MS can hold out much longer than both other companies in any time of turmoil in the world economy. Sony can't afford too many mistakes, Nintendo is too small to hold the burden of many mistakes, MS will just "write-off" xbox mistakes- don't be surprised of another billion dollar warranties next gen.

No. Microsoft already lost some battels against Apple,Linux( marketshare ) Sony and Nintendo. But they are still one of the most biggest and richest company in the world.

But i don't think Nintendo will win next generation just because wii is so succesfull

Next generation will be a completley new ball game , both MS and Sony ignored the demographic that Nintendo ignored and it's pretty certain that they'll be coming for it next generation .

Nintendo has the 1st place advantage going into next gen but that alone won't be enough to ensure sucesss next gen . Nintendo could opt for the safer route of a Wii Mote 2 , Wii Sports 2 , Wii Fit 2 but I imagine they'd get murdered if either Sony or MS capitilised on the newer demographic with a more innovative approach.

I don't think it can be said at this moment in time for certain if Microsoft can win next gen or any gen after it , we'll have to see how the big 3 atempt to capture the newly established demographic whilst not scaring the traditional gamer , it's highly risky for all involved and expect at least 1 of the 3 to slip up ; Nintendo isn't immune to failiure so it could just as likely be them.

Depends, they need to release first again, avoid a high price like the ps3, and avoid catastrophic problems like RROD....

Sales wise, the SNES sold 49 million and the Genesis about 32-33 million....fun wise, well, that´s subjective.

IMO, the SNES is not only the greatest Nintendo system ever, it´s the greatest system ever.

i dont really care who wins, i only care which consoles brings the goods each gen. I didnt like the xbox last gen because the lack of games, but i love my 360 now.

I know the snes sold slightly more.. but it lost in some territories to the genesis.
Some people view the genesis as winning because they stole so much of nintendos marketshare, whereas last gen sega only controlled about 10% to nintendos 88% or something.

Personally, I think it was a tie, since both companies made bank.
