Forums - Sony - Aha! What they should do on the next PSP.

@scottie
That is a good point, i didn't take the consideration of capacity of next gen games for handhelds. Still the price is coming down. A terabyte fat32 is 100 dollars now a days if you know where to buy it and a 500 2.5 Sata is 100, for USB 8 gigs cost me 15 dollars last weekend. That's getting close to memory sticks. Might fall down enough so large enough ones could be viable. I wonder what they will actually use.

On new egg you can get 4GB micro SD cards for as low as $7. Pro Stick Duo is essentially the same thing with perhaps a few added advantages factoring into the cost, but in general Sony just plain charges more for their tech than others. I'm fairly sure they could squeeze out $5 2gig cards in mass production if it were used for games. That's not too much more expensive than a UMD.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

For one add another analogue stick, secondly make the console piracy proof or at least better than the PSP. It's pretty obvious a new PSP is in the making and Sony are probably making a brand new disc format to go with it. They will not go download only though, no chance of that occuring.

Piracy is the least worry.

Focusing on what makes people buy it, not other way.

Piracy is the biggest of the PSP's woes. Plus, look at the numbers. Good sales IMO. Hopefully I'm gonna get one for myself too.

Agreed on the analog stick. One thing that pissed me off about psp 2000 though was there stick. on my 1000 model I had a custom Analog stick on there that was pretty much a miniature Dualshock stick. Felt the same and it was COMFORTABLE AS HELL. Then with psp 2000, you couldn't change the analog stick out....but the overall feel (instead of just the stick), faster loading, Skype (which i use), lighter weight, and better Wifimax connectivity made me use my 2000. would have been perfect if I could have put my own stick on there.

Agreeing with Xen on this one. However the UMD obvisouly did absolutely nothing to prevent it from happening, and im sure there is something sony can think of to prevent piracy from an average - moderate user. some skilled hackers will rape it eventually.I even hear rumors (key word is rumors) that they will use a varient version of the cell for psp2. So they might actually stop it this way.

The point is that, there's no way to stop piracy. So, instead of wasting your resources on stopping something you cannot stop... do something else.

Whatever Sony does with the next PSP, if there is one, they better have some big tricks up their sleeves cause now that Nintendo's making the huge money again, I'm sure we are gonna see a pretty impressive DS2. If not the great return of the Game Boy with maybe a touch screen? That's be hella hard to compete with
