Forums - Sony - It's Official ATLUS and Persona 4 got a new fanboy

Atlus won a fanboy with me with Persona 3, I had started Nocturne before but hadn't finished it because it was insanely hard. The excellent game that P3 was motivated me to finish Nocturne after it (amazing game by the way, even with the very high difficulty). And P4 is even better than P3.
Needless to say, now I look at any Atlus developed game with a lot of interest, I hope they keep the same quality standard. And I still haven't played Raidou, I'm missing that one.

You really need to play P3, while P4 is in many ways the better game, I'm sure you'll find that P3 is equally as memorable

Persona 4 is an excellent game in many ways. Story, gameplay, VA, art design, music, etc. are the high points of the game. Atlus Japan knows how to make some really good games on a relattively low budget. It's too bad Atlus USA also have to publish games from companies such as Success, Idea Factory, etc. Those 360 RPGs they were forced to release here were terrible. Atlus Japan know a "trick" that Success and Idea Factory don't.

Atlus won me with DDS 1&2... now that's what I call a doom and gloom JRPG.. brutal, sad, very emotional... good graphics, nice rock soundtrack, great VA, great difficulty (unless you're fighting the demi fiend, oh god!)... everyone, PLAY THOSE GAMES!

Hopefully money allows a Persona 4 purchase for me soon.

P3 is awesome, you won't regret it. Also try the regular SMT games like SMT:Nocturne, DDS & DDS2. Nocturne doesn't have voice acting (which is one of the best things about the persona series) but it's gameplay is unmatched and it's story is as unique as it gets.

How is it one of the best things? DDS 1 & 2 have English VA and its absolutely fantastic...

Persona 3 and 4's voice acting is very good. very funny in many cases. I wasn't sure if this is why he liked Persona 4 because  he may not find the true gem in SMT:Nocturne if he can't see beyond that (like my cousin lol). I never slighted DDS voice acting, just Nocturne in which case there just isn't any.

Those of us who played JRPGs in the ps1 era where even FF didn't have VA (and even before that) don't care about VA as much as the multitude who were converted to JRPGs by FFX (like my cousin again)

Haha, I started off FFX and I prefer JRPG's with VA rather than not... although I don't mind them to have none.

wow, the difference between you and my cousin is that he just can't play the old JRPGs (no VA) lol

Missing out on the PS1 and SNES era of JRPG's = priceless!
