Add the Snes' slow processor, the Sony developed Snes CD Rom peripheral, The Wii's graphics capabilities, editing Mortal Kombat, and the Gamecube Online adapters to your list.

let the flamewars begin!

its sad its always a flame war here. i would have paid 300 for wii if it was 50 percent of the way from it to 360.

also to add more the wii's storage space. it makes me sad seein four pages of channel slots that can never be filled, even tho i have more than enough vc games. same subject but minor, i wish i could easily rearrange the channels and put like all contras in a row say.

you already can, by holding down a and b at the same time and just moving the channel to an empty spot.

and about the flamewars, i meant i was thinking one was about to start, but i guess my flame bait detector is on the frits again. have to get another one one of these days.

^^^You Can. Just grab the channel you want to swap by pressing A and B. Move it to an empty space. Repeat until you're satisfied.

Thanks a million, wish i knew that a while ago :P

i feel dumb now.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I'd honestly say I'm tired of not knowing about games until a few months prior to their release.

"Unfortunately Gunpei Yokoi’s life ended tragically in a hit and run car accident leaving many to suspect Yakuza connections and possibly Nintendo’s hand in his death."

You be careful what you say, that is not the sort of thing that should lightly be bandied about. I highly recommend you edit that part out of you post, and then I can edit this post and we can never speak of it again

Agreed with that.

Also to whoever mentioned that the Wiis graphics should be on that list, you're wrong. As a business decision it was extremely good, allowing them to sell the Wii much cheaper and as such capture certain market segments much sooner.

I think when Nintendo killed Metroid / Virtual Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi was a pretty bad decision. Probably the worst.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Might I also add the context of this list is to point out major mistakes in Nintendo's history in the industry, not nitpicky issues that are of relatively no consequence to gaming.

Things would be nice if the Wii had better graphics, but its the Wii's current level of graphics that is allowing them to dodge the market crippling cost of development that is forcing third party developers under. Its also the Wii's graphics that have allowed the console to be sold for such a price and bring in such a profit.

Online is a notable issue for the Wii, but it has of yet to pose any serious consequences outside of a lack of forum street cred for the console. Like graphics, its largely an aesthetic short coming that by itself has yet to hinder the Wii to any great extent.

Channel and menu customization would be nice, but again, its just aesthetics.

Storage Space would be great for the Wii too, but again, its not an issue that is gravely affecting much else other than the Wii's street cred.

Mortal Kombat was just one of many problems Nintendo had in censoring games so listing it on its own really doesn't warrant much especially since its had little lasting effect on Nintendo in the market.

SNES's processor is a non-issue, outside of the pissing contest between Nintendo and Sega fanboys it didn't hinder the console in any way significant to Nintendo's success or failure in the industry.

@ Rath, I meant that the Wii's graphics are TOO powerful! We don't want amazing graphics this generation. I was hoping for early PS1 level graphics!! Imagine the Wii selling for $199 at launch.......

Delaying the inevitable console redesign in light of the maturing vg market.

Sony kicked their ass because of this.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
