It also does not include handhelds or the PC. I am only including PS3/360/Wii games when they are identical, otherwise PS3/360 and Wii will be taken seperately. Downloadable games are included. So what can we conclude from this data? The Wii's games have been severely lacking according to the gaming press this year. While it manages to keep up on the exclusive front, the huge amount of quality multiplatform games for the PS360 have left the Wii in the dust. How long will 3rd parties keep ignoring the Wii? That seems to be changing this year at least. It doesn't change the fact that Sony and Microsoft support 3rd parties a hell of a lot more than Nintendo does. They promote their products in conferences, supply developers from their own studios to help with 3rd party exclusives, advertise their games on their websites, etc.
It's true that Nintendo don't really need 3rd parties to keep sales high though. I wonder if that's one of the reasons that they've been less than reluctant to produce quality games for the Wii?
