It still seems unlikely to me that Rockstar will get round to doing a GTA:Wii, and as a GC owner I remember having to resort to Simpsons: Hit and Run for my GTA-style kicks.  I enjoyed that game a lot though, and it got me wondering whether Nintendo (either through a first- or second-party) should create a similar style game set in the Mushroom Kingdom.  Of course, it would be a lot kiddier than a real GTA, but not automatically less fun because of it.

Would anyone else buy such a game?  And, perhaps more pertinently from a would-be developer's perspective, would a few million?

nintendo would never make a game where the mushroom kingdom characters shot each other up unless it was a paintball game.

Mario spent like all of Super Mario Bros. stalking King Koopa, killing King Koopa's friends, and attempting to defeat King Koopa.

Super Mario Bros. 3 was even worse. Mario freaking assassinated King Koopa's whole family before coming for him.

i don't like GTA mostly cause i don't like the pointless violence...GTA: mushroom kingdom actually sounds pretty good to me. ...the thing is, i'm probably just about the only one.

Well, if the DS version sells, I am sure there will be a Wii version for Xmas 2010.

Of course there wouldn't be any real guns or fatalities, but I could envisage various shell-guns to "neutralise" enemies and possibly MK power ups for the driving sections.

Were there guns in Simpsons: Hit and Run? That (more than GTA per se) was the game template I had in mind.

Scarface is damn close to GTA and it's an awesome game for Wii owners who like GTA style games
