I went for the DSL rather than wait for DSi. It's all about tradeoffs.

DSL gets you access to the GBA library, compatibility with certain peripherals, better battery life, easy access to homebrew with flash carts if you like, and you save $50.

DSi gets you cameras, better internet functionality (tempting), slightly larger screens, more multimedia functionality, access to DSiWare library, and an SD slot.

The clincher for me was that the GBA library is way cooler than DSiWare (for now at least) and I don't have to wait to buy my DS. :3

$180 would put it in line with the japanese price of 18000 yen, actually less expensive with the current exchange rate so i really wouldn't be surprised if that is the price.

personally i'm really glad that i purchased the DSi even though i have a DSL and haven't used the internet capabilites of the DSi yet. The battery life really isn't that different, and it's hard to go back to the smaller screen after using the big one for so long.

I'll buy it and put my trustworthy DSL on a shelf ,along with other lovely Nintendo handhelds. :D

Good luck fitting that in your pocket. Wouldn't the PSP be a better comparison? Isn't it $200?

I don't think its really that early.. I mean the DSi has been out for 6 months in Japan and the DS dropped 91% in America this week so maybe they're wise to release it soon.

I thought it was because of supply constraints, not dips in demand. Or are we not sure?
