Whenever you're ready to get to the next level you should try Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Preferably the PC version.

ET:Quake Wars is a lot more advanced than normal FPS-games when it comes to leveling up/upgrades and also the tactics and team-play.
(but doesn't have the steep learning curve of tactical squad based shooters á la Ghost Recon which I don't like at all).

Is that game actually good? I tried the demo on PS3 and it was the glitchiest, twitchiest mess of a game I have ever played. It lagged horribly too. Basically it was unplayable.

Oh. I know the console versions got bad reviews but I never understood why. The PC version of ET:QW is easily the best shooter I've ever played, and I experienced no difficulties in the console version demo. No lag either. The game takes a bit longer to get into though than the 2 hours of game time the demo offered.

What do you mean by glitches and twitches?

Everything. The aiming is all twitchy as is the movement. There isn't a smooth movement as you move the analogs. The aiming must be on some wacky aim assist because it jumps without me moving it. I would chalk it up to lag, but it seems the lag is independent of the gameplay issues. The game basically runs fine for a time and then starts to jump frames. It's really annoying. If you have a PS3, or have access to one, try out the demo and you'll see what I mean. If you don't, then you must be playing with these problems and are a glutton for punishment without realizing it.

To the OP, welcome to the world of First Person Shooters. If you think you like WAW you really gotta follow these guy's advice here and pick up COD4 which in my opinion is far superior of the two. Infinity Ward > Treyarch.

BattleField 2142 and Rainbow 6 vegas both had good leveling up systems and nice new gear, Resistance 2's co-op is alot of fun with very powerfull weapons at later levels. COD4's early level weapons are pretty much just as lethal and effective as later level weaps.

But I think all players should have access to all weapons that should all be balanced properly, and to show your status of a higher rank with just more options to customise how your character looks.

Halo 3 has a good ranking system. I look forward to seeing what Killzone 2's perks, levels and gear ranking system is like.

So yeah, pick up COD4, and if you're really new to fps games, play everything Valve has ever made :D

Halo 3 has some of the best stat tracking I've seen...bungie.net literally tracks howmany times you farted while playing halo.

Well there's your problem.... The easiest solution is to stick it on your PC. If it says Quake, it should probably be on something that says Windows (or DOS) at startup. As to the actual game, it was good, but I wasn't all that impressed. I liked the qhole quake-universe thing best. I loved killing me some humans as strogg.

Also how dare you mock the eye of win, bringer of good and evil, destroyer of noobs, god of 1337 p33z. Stupid frowning face.

LADDER THEORY FTW!

Ok I'll try sticking the digital PS3 demo in my PC next. Thanks for the advice talking eye.

@shio-I'm not talking about twitch gameplay. I'm talking about twitching gameplay controls.

I think he means in-game handjobs and blowjobs. Obviously those would be tracked seperately though.

Oh I see. yeah thats a given...doesn't COD4 track that?

Killzone 2 will do, Resistance 2 and COD 4 do.

I heard they sensed it out-of-game too.

Also you can easily get the digital PC copy of the demo right here:
