Forums - Nintendo - What Is This About??

The triforce symbol (more specifically just 3 triangles in a triangle shape) is actually a symbol used in Japan for a very long time. Nintendo didn't invent it.

Can you offer any context to that? What does it mean in japanese culture?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wow, both announcements have me excited! I'm hoping something comes from them. It's funny how they're so close in time.

Its got 3 triangles at the top, which looks like a triforce but then it has 2 triangles with one clearly missing and then just the 1

I'd say its for publicity..

Look up images of Mitsu uroko.  It's kind of like a coat of arms in old Japan.   It's known as a Kamon.  The old Kamons, or coat of arms, symbols have found their way into architecture and deisgn all over Japan.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Deep, the entire clan killed themselves.

Still its strange to copy that same clans crest, especially when other videogames are so famous because of it.

Yeah, like numbers on a clock.  1, 2, and 3.  Though, in a backward order.
