Words Of Wisdom has a point. You may have a hard time going back and enjoying the older games, esp. FF1 and FF2. They are truly the roots of the FF genre, but they are very slow moving and require a lot of grinding compared to the newer FF games.

I did the same with Advance Wars too. Over the course of 9 months I slowly collected all the Advance Wars games.

You liked Crisis Core that much? Huh. I thought it was meh. It became a chore to play it for me. I'd play it to just try to get it done so that I could move on to the next game I want to play. I didn't play my PSP for a while because I just had no desire to play Crisis Core, so I ended up trading it in to get something else.
