Forums - Sony - Now that the numbers are in, will Sony buy Level-5?

I don't like console vendors buying studios.

Development studios should be separate entities that live and die based on the quality of games they build. When they get eaten by console vendors it reduces their incentive to build great games.

I would much prefer a market of a whole bunch of small studios then a market filled with major publishers and console vendors only.

I doubt it, sony arent in the right frame to be buying developers

I wish, but I don't think so.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Unlikely right now. However if Sony's financial position improves it may be a slight possibility. We'll know soon enough when they report their last quarter earnings.

I don't think...

In that case, Nintendo are the ones who should buy Level-5.

In fact, Level 5 has sold more games on Nintendo systems than in Sony systems, specially with the Layton series.

And there is still Dragon Quest (well, developed by Level-5 and published y Square-Enix).

No.

Other than the fact that Sony is broke, Level 5 is working on DS now with Layton and DQ, so... no.

Sony is broke? Since when?

Look:

All these games are going to be released on Nintendo systems in 2009, and some other doesn't have any specific date yet, all by Level-5.

Nintendo DS:

Dragon Quest IX (2009)
Sloan to Michael: Nazo no Monogatari (2009)
Tago Akira no Atama no Taisou Dai-1-Shuu: Nazotoki Sekaiisshuu Tabi (2009)
Inazuma Eleven 2(TBA)
The Another World (TBA)

And also, the two sequels of Professor Layton (not released in USA yet).

Wii:

Inazuma Eleven Break!

And their other titles for this year are:

Ushiro (TBA)
Cardboard War Machine (TBA)

Both titles for the PSP. None for the PS3. None for the 360.

As you can see... they sure love Nintendo. They are developing more games for Nintendo than for Sony.
