america in 2009 is possible if they delay the 360 port

What port? Last I checked, S-E said the game used the PC as its main development, so the PS3 version is actually a port as well.

Yeah, naturally they're going to design the game for PC and release it on consoles only.

Using PC for development is not developing for the system. It's simply using the architecture to save costs.

And this isn't me theorizing. S-E actually said they were developing on PC architecture, which is why putting it on the 360 will take so little extra work.

You both found and missed my point. What you said is the exact reason the game is developed for the PS3. I don't know how much if at all it will affect the 360 version but the game is still designed for the PS3 despite being developed on the PC.

No, the game was made for the PS3 because S-E thought that system would lead. They used the PC to develop it just to save costs.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

@mrstickball:
"In hindsight was the X360 the best bet for exclusivity on those games? The argument could be made. However developers didn't have that kind of foresight - and even then, seeing how abysmal PS3 sales have been, it could also be aruged they made a good (but not great) choice to go with the 360 - the better one would have been the Wii"
You say that they made a good choice, but when you look at the fact that these games are JRPGs and sales of the X360 in Japan (the only place where JRPGs actually sell) are "abysmal" (the PS3 ain't doing so great either, but it's doing better than the X360), your argument doesn't really check out.
I absolutely understand SE making FFXIII multiplat. Business decision. But a company that makes JRPGs making X360 exclusives MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

The battle mod seems to be a mix of those on Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy X with some new features thrown on the middle for good measure... looks cool

@mrstickball

if anything IS abysmal its the sales of the 360 JRPG's in Japan

you know WKc outsold them all in a matter of 1.5 weeks....lol

frankly your acting as if Japanese companies should hop onto 360 & forget about Japan completely.....

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

darth - Did you know that, for all your arguing about WKC, it still has a lot to prove in the West?

It's sold well in Japan (well, relatively to the horrors that are HD sales in Japan - WKC is still horrible when compared to anything last gen fpr JRPGs) it still has to come to the West and do well, does it not?

Johann - it's interesting you say JRPGs only sell in Japan, when the fact is that most major series sell better in the West, sans Dragon Quest.

And it also comes back to the whole argument that it was either X360 or bust for the early slew of JRPGs - PS3 wasn't out, 360 was, and it at least offered strong returns in the West. From now on, I'd imagine that most JRPGs being made are going to be planned to go to the Wii. It's asinine to think that, from a business standpoint, that there's any other answer. Yes, I 'get' that JRPGs on the X360 haven't done that great, but they sure as heck haven't on the PS3, either.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

You should compare it to the other non- Level 5 dragon quest games, and it's selling good for what it is. Rogue Galaxy did 350,000 +/- during his lifetime, and Dark Cloud 1 and 2 did likely about the same or less.

It seems like you are always making up excuses to make a succes for the PS3 look bad and the contrary for the Xbox 360. Heck, you say the PS3 sales are abysmal, when it's selling at a faster rate than the 360.

Edit:

Dark Cloud 2/ Chronicle did 260,000 in Japan.
