Forums - Gaming - Why I appreciate Nintendo making games for adults. (Rant ahoy!)

Montana, thank you for understanding the point. You're dealing with irrational people here. Shit, someone even said they liked Independence Day.

I'll stand by my 8 year old niece's opinion in favor of my own. She loved Rock Band. She played Wii Music for half an hour and called it crap (not her words, that little girl has a mouth on her). After a brief time of Wii Music, she went back to Rock Band and continued to play it for three days until I left (I assume she kept playing it after I left).

Wii Music sucks. It's horrible. I played it for about six hours trying to see if there was a redeeming point in that game. There wasn't.

Myamoto, shark, jumping.

It seems your abillity to be rational yourself isn't too great either.

If you don't like a certain genre of music, does it make it bad?

Answer that question and i'll take you seriously, if not you're just another person spouting ideas, but when called upon those ideas refuse to take things in.

A Wii fan's rebuttal to every argument:

or my personal favourite

"But look at the sales!"

So you would argue that fun isn't subjective?

No, what would give you that idea? I just think it's too easy for people to hide behind that response.

What an... interesting thread. Not the OP mind you, but the responses are truly intriguing. That goes for all of 'em, even the ones about Independence day.

But to go back on topic, I understand what you were aiming to get across (amazing I know). As a student, I really do appreciate the pick-up-and-play experiences offered by Nintendo and other 3rd parties.

Every day I turn on City Folk and spend 30 minutes buying furniture or building a snowman. Simple and enjoyable things that are fun from the get go. From playing a song in Guitar Hero to having a friendly Ganondorf vs. Olimar match (my dreams!), its all good fun. And at the end of the day, I have plenty of time for my studies.

Not to say that this is a Nintendo-only phenomenon (Sony & Microsoft offer these types of games as well, not to mention 3rd parties as stated above) or that this is the only experience Nintendo can offer (see: Radiant Dawn), but sometimes knowing that you dont have to invest hours to truly enjoy and excel at a game can be a freeing feeling.

And again, Wii Music is a musical toy. Just because you say the word "zenith", doesn't give you any more cred on the subject.

Sorry Miyamoto thought outside of your box. Get over it.

People said Wii Music would fail, and not even break 500k. Well, it's going way past that, and your constant whining over the subject isn't going to stop it. Deal.

He's not annoyed that Wii Music is different, he's annoyed that it's just complete shit. Miyamoto is probably the most talented developer in the industry, and because of this, people can't even admit when he's made something that just isn't good. And even if the game is decent, couldn't he have done a lot better? He's revered across the gaming world, by both fans and developers. And this is the best he can do?

I don't remember too many people saying that Wii Music, a game with "Wii" in the title, would not even break 500k lifetime. Sounds to me like someone is making up ridiculously low sales standards that no one ever said (except a crazy troll or fanboy) to make the game look more successful than it really is. To me, and I'm sure some other people, the games is a sales disappointment. And don't say that he's "whining," and certainly don't end your argument with "Deal." It's condescending as hell.

No deal.

I'm sorry what is that? opinion you say? NEVAAAAAA!!!

Guess what, people enjoy wii music

/thread

You chose not to acknowledge that, but its true, there are people on this website that enjoyed it. The aim of a game is to enjoy, there you go, it succeeded as a game.

You're welcome.

Agreed on that, but hey once a fanboy always a fanboy

Independence Day is an okay film. Wii Music is an okay game. Not masterpieces but decent. Secondly, Nintendo are not dumbing down. Thirdly, I would wage that Miyamoto making games like Wii Music is an extreme waste of his talent and it means there will be less Zelda, Mario etc, fine for casuals, not great for those of us who love Zelda & Mario.

Everything is subjective. Peoples' opinion on Stalin are subjective.

Then there is objectivism. The study of, well, you know. Something a little different.

Cute. Maybe someday you'll get your own schtick and become wildly successful at it and then, you'll finally embrace your life. What we proletarians call that is LOVE.
