Forums - Gaming - GRFX Comparison: Crysis and Killzone 2 - The BITTER Truth Finally Revealed!

Only can PlayStation 3 exclusives games be compared to high-spec PC titles. This is truly an accomplishment for the little engine that could. With the powerful Cell Processor and the infinite amount of space in a blu-ray disk, PLAYSTATION®3 provides you with premiere movie CGI quality graphics.

It wins more than the pics show. How the hell did environments get equal? In killzone does every plant have physics on it? Is it a huge open world game? it doesn't even have as good lighting on environments.

except that neither Killzone 2 nor any other console shooter can really be compared to Crysis.  On its highest setting Crysis is WAY beyond anything on a console.  Those pics don't even do close to a good job showing off crysis.  And Crysis is an open world game which makes all the rendering and physics all the more impressive

why put the worse of killzone 2 gainst the best of crysis?

oh yh and just to let you know it is a little unfair picking an image of a crysis gun whilst not moving but yet picking a killzone 2 gun whilst moving then compairing the detail when you already know that motion blur is at work.

plus the jungle scene in crysis. my back foot. I have played crysis on the highest settings possible and no scene in the game looks like that, and anyway who has played crysis can agree with me.

I am not trying to say that killzone 2 is better then crysis i am just saying that if you are going to do a comparison at least be fair about it. in other words only in-game shots.

I know that you never created this article, well i dont think you have but who ever has should be ashamed of themselves

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I think the fact that Killzone 2 is even being compared to a PC shooter, by the media and fanboys alike, and not just any PC shooter, but the PC shooter when it comes to graphics, is very telling of the amazing quality visuals Killzone 2 brings to the table.

killzone pics aren't all fine either, the first is a cutscene.

Jeff haynes: "It's incredible to see huge levels and see the deferred rendering and note that on all the SPU’s, even on the heaviest load were coming up to about 60%. They weren't coming close to maxing out. They had about 40% of space before they started tripping or saw slow down on some of the processes."

Ummm.. so the article basically seems to be pointing out that KZ2 is in the same league as Crysis, which is saying something, given Crysis' requirements are considerably more meaty than what the PS3 offers (or the 360, obviously).

Kinda sounds like, if any console game is even worthy of comparison to Crysis, its KZ2. Everything else isn't even in the same ballpark as Crysis -- certainly not Gears 2, Halo 3, or CoD4/5, nor is the 360 or PS3 version of Far Cry 2, which is a statement in and of itself.

Good work, GG, and congrats for being worthy of comparison to what is almost without question the most technically advanced shooter of the time, on any platform. Especially since you did it with a 3 year-old GPU architecture, whereas Crysis *requires* something a LOT more modern.

It'd be fascinating to compare KZ2 to Crysis, on a PC with 512MB memory (A PC needs a good extra 256MB due to OS requirements) and a NVidia 7800 GTX with 256MB.  That's be considerably more "fair", and I have no doubt as to who would "win" such a comparison.
